Conspiracism and extremism: What role for prevention and local actors?

The article gives some definition of conspiracism and tries to understand it's working mechanisms. After exploring why people believe in conspirative theories the article concludes in some recommendations for action and gives examples.

Between September 2014 and December 2017, the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus) led, with funding from the European Commission, the LIAISE “Local institutions against violent extremism” project for exchanging and strengthening the capacities of European local authorities for the implementation of prevention projects against violent radicalisation. The paper was written in the framework of the LIAISE 2 project in order to synthesise existing knowledge and make it operational for local authorities.
