The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has taken a terrible toll in lives, illness, and economic devastation and it is having diverse effects on violence and crime. Therefore, the Daily Prevention News publishes weekly a Corona Crime Issue dedicated to collect related relevant news and information.

1. UN Writing Competition: Lead the New Normal
   The United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, the Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Commemoration of the United Nations’ 75th Anniversary and Devex, are excited to announce the launch of an Essay Competition for the best essay by a young person on the topic ‘The Future We Want, The UN We Need’. The UN is calling on young people between the ages of 15 and 29 to share their views and suggestions about the UN’s future role by answering the question: Within the context of the “new normal” that has unfolded post-COVID-19, and as we plan and re-build to recovery, what does the future of the UN look like to you?  Source: United Nations
2. Framing in times of crisis: Responses to COVID-19 amongst Far Right movements and organisations
   This paper examines various framing processes have been developed by Far Right groups specifically in response to the global health crisis brought about by the spread of COVID-19. Through an examination of statements by six Identitarian and National Socialist movement organisations issued over a two month period from late February to late April 2020 on the open source platform Telegram, six ‘crisis frames’ were identified which extended central Far Right ideological ideas and cast COVID-19 as directly linked to concepts of migration, globalisation, governance, liberty, resilience and conspiracy. 3. Europe: COVID-19 lockdowns expose racial bias and discrimination within the police  
   Police enforcing COVID-19 lockdowns across Europe have disproportionately targeted ethnic minority and marginalized groups with violence, discriminatory identity checks, forced quarantines and fines, Amnesty International said in a new report - Policing the Pandemic - Human rights violations in the enforcement of COVID-19 measures in Europe. 4. From discrimination to abuse in older age: the insidious process brought to light by COVID-19
   As widespread reports and figures have demonstrated since the beginning of the outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionally affected the older population across Europe and the world. This increased vulnerability to the virus is mainly due to a higher prevalence of risks factors, such as underlying comorbidities, which may lead to more serious health conditions and impact the chance of surviving intensive medical intervention. 7. 4th Urban Covid-19 monitor-City of Amsterdam
   Every 2 weeks we publish a monitor on urban measures to deal with COVID-19.In most countries around the world, the infection rate is decreasing and many citizens, companies and governments (local and national) are slowly given more freedom. Although the pandemic has not yet come to an end, in most countries lockdown measures are more relaxed, including on a local level. This is visible in an increase in tourism, but also in activities organised in some countries. At the same time, there are severe concerns about the economic consequences of COVID-19 and the measures taken by governments to combat COVID-19.    The JDI publishes an occasional series of short, research-based papers intended to support practitioners with topical advice on current issues and to inform practitioner and policy-maker thinking. Each paper is highly specific and follows a standard format. Content is based on the best available evidence or appropriate theoretical perspective. Papers are not formally peer-reviewed, although in most cases experienced practitioner colleagues or academics will have commented on them prior to publication.
