More news about the topic
EU commission is preparing a comprehensive strategy on the rights of the child. Building upon the 2006 Communication: “Towards an EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child” and the 2011 EU Agenda for the Rights of the Child.
The EU strategy on children’s rights will provide the framework for EU action to better promote and protect children’s rights and mainstreaming children’s rights across all relevant EU areas of work. It will contain a set of measures for the EU to implement, addressing among others:
- the rights of the most vulnerable children
- children’s rights in the digital age
- the prevention of and fight against violence
- the promotion of child-friendly justice.
It will also include recommendations for action by other EU institutions, EU countries and stakeholders.
This is a so-called roadmap process which aims to inform citizens and stakeholders about the Commission's work in order to allow them to provide feedback and to participate effectively in future consultation activities. Citizens and stakeholders are in particular invited to provide views on the Commission's understanding of the problem and possible solutions and to make available any relevant information that they may have.
The public consultation phase is open until the End of December. Everybody is invited to participate in the process and give feedback on the strategy.
