The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has taken a terrible toll in lives, illness, and economic devastation and it is having diverse effects on violence and crime. Therefore, the Daily Prevention News publishes weekly a Corona Crime Issue dedicated to collect related relevant news and information.

1. 150 million additional children plunged into poverty due to COVID-19 - Impact of COVID-19 on multidimensional child poverty
   New analysis reveals the number of children living in multidimensional poverty – without access to education, health, housing, nutrition, sanitation, or water – has increased by 15 per cent since the start of the pandemic.
   Child poverty is more than the lack of monetary means. Although measures such as household income are important, they provide only a partial view of the plight of children living in poverty. Therefore to understand the full extent of child poverty as well as the impact of COVID-19 on it, we must look at children’s ability to access health, education, nutrition, water and sanitation and housing services. 2. Hidden scars: the impact of violence and the COVID-19 pandemic on children’s mental health
   Despite commitments made by the international community to end violence against children and support their mental health, there has been a serious lack of investment and capacity to provide quality, rights-based, culturally appropriate mental health care globally. The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified these challenges. But during this unprecedented crisis, climate shocks and extreme weather events will not stop. All countries – but particularly the poorest and most vulnerable – now face the compound impacts of climate and COVID, as we saw during Cyclone Amphan, where authorities in Bangladesh and India had to handle competing goals of evacuation and lockdown to keep communities safe.    China’s Xiong’an New Area development, which is being built near Beijing, will incorporate lessons from COVID-19 and could serve as a model for other cities around the world. Barcelona-based Guallart Architects won the housing category of an international competition supported by President Xi Jinping to design a mixed-use community for the Hebei province’s Xiong’an New Area, aiming to set “a new standard in the post-COVID era”.     Stalking involves repeated unwanted communication, harassment, and intrusive behaviour.
