The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a terrible toll on lives, illness, and economic devastation and it is having diverse effects on violence and crime. Daily Prevention News publishes weekly a Corona Crime Issue dedicated to collect related news and information.

1. Evidence Brief Series: Peace in Our Cities in a Time of Pandemic
   In 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, member cities prioritized gaps in knowledge relating to how to adapt to violence prevention efforts as the pandemic continues. Impact:Peace initiated action-oriented research in 6 different areas: (1) violence against women; (2) violence in informal settlements; (3) violence associated with organized crime/criminal groups; (4) city interaction with national or state policy that may hamper prevention efforts; (5) social media’s influence on violence; and (6) how to foster healthy relationships between communities and law enforcement. The first five evidence briefs include: Preventing Violence in Informal Settlements in the Age of COVID-19; Communities, Police and Relationships during COVID-19; Preventing an Escalation of Violence Against Women during COVID-19; Digital Threats & Urban Violence Prevention during COVID-19 and Competing for Governance and Legitimacy with Organized Criminal Groups in the time of COVID-19

2. Controlling the virus or protecting vulnerable people? Different responses to the threat of COVID-19
   At the start of pandemic, countries such as the UK and US, made the mistake of treating COVID-19 as if it was seasonal flu. There is a danger that the UK will repeat this mistake with the vaccination strategy that misses opportunities to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission. Source: Transforming Society
3. Clinical Characteristics, Activity Levels and Mental Health Problems in Children with Long COVID: A Survey of 510 Children
   The World Health Organization has recently recognized Long COVID, calling the international medical community to strengthen research and comprehensive care of patients with this condition. However, if Long COVID pertains to children as well is not yet clear. The study provides further evidence on Long COVID in children. Symptoms like fatigue, headache, muscle and joint pain, rashes and heart palpitations, and mental health issues like lack of concentration and short memory problems, were particularly frequent and confirm previous observations, suggesting that they may characterize this condition.
