The “European Police Congress” is an international congress for decision-makers from the police, security authorities and industry. The aim is to strengthen the dialogue between the authorities and to enable the participants to make new contacts with colleagues from all over the world. Every year the conference is a meeting place for some 1,500 experts from more than 20 countries. Political representatives, border guards, intelligence agencies, as well as governments, parliaments and industries all attend the conference. The European Police Congress is the largest internal security conference in the European Union.
Europe’s politics and society focus on many crises, currently the challenges posed by Corona. So far unknown practised legal, ethical, and security-related questions arise. Demonstrations in some European countries show that not all parts of the population support their government’s path in combating the pandemic concerning its duration, extent and intensity. But security issues that were important before Covid-19 are still on the agenda. Migration, right-wing extremist structures and dangers from cyberspace concern security agencies in Europe to the same dimension during the pandemic.
The congress will take place September, 14 and 15 in Berlin.
