Lecture: Survey on sexualized violence and abuse in schools

In every class, there are 1-2 children who experience or have experienced sexual violence. Sexualized assaults also happen at school. But where does abuse start? What do schools need to ensure safety? A long-term goal is to create a prevention concept for schools to protect against sexualized violence and abuse. For this purpose, questionnaires were designed in advance, which are aimed at students, teachers and parents.

Project Presentation: An App helping women affected by domestic violence

The already serious problem of domestic violence has been further exacerbated by the exceptional situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, only a low percentage of affected persons know about and/or use established support structures, and most incidents of violence remain in the dark.

The BMJV-funded project Gewaltfrei in die Zukunft (Violence-Free into the Future) aims to establish low-threshold, effective and sustainable access to affected women in the form of a piloted, scientifically accompanied app. In the sense of an integrative approach, versatile functions are served in an app. Legal information, psychosocial tips and local offers of help, as well as impulses for strengthening victim awareness, are provided in a bundled form, accessible in a contemporary way via smartphone. A diary function also enables systematic documentation and backup of violent incidents. In addition to the expected added value for the presentation of evidence in criminal proceedings, the function can and should give cause to make the severity and/or frequency of the violence and thus the injustice experienced visible.
