Protection Vehicle Attacks – Strategies for more Security
Christian Weicht, Detlef Schürmann (both Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg) & Julia Christiani (Police Crime Prevention of the Federal States and the Federal Government)
After being more of a phenomenon of extremist terrorist attacks in the past years, the rampage as a crossing act is increasingly becoming an instrument for other forms of criminal acts, such as (extended) suicides or acts of retaliation. The question of appropriate protection of vulnerable places is more topical than ever. Many municipalities and event organisers face the challenge of protecting public space against vehicle attacks. In addition, there is the demand not to create a feeling of insecurity through martial-looking security measures, but to integrate them into the cityscape. The lecture will present ways to develop an individual security concept against vehicular attacks. The basis for this is the handout "Schutz vor Überfahrtaten" (Protection against Crossing offenses) by the "Polizeiliche Kriminalprävention der Länder und des Bundes". Together with Detlev Schürmann and Christian Weicht from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, the roles and tasks of responsible actors are named and concrete action steps for the development of an access protection concept are described. The expertise of the two experts from the research area "Applied Crime Prevention and Accompanying Scientific Research" is part of the recommendations in the police handout.

Making strong women visible
Lena Hoseit & Tugba Tekin (Social Service of Muslim Women e.V. (SmF))
In the lecture, the speakers will present the project campaign “Making Strong Women Visible”, which was created as part of the project "Women Strengthen Women - Against Radicalization". In this context, the measures of the project will also be presented. With the help of the campaign, it was possible to make the strong women from the project and their families, who were included in the measures, visible and to show that they are an important part of our society. During the first project period, the project participants showed great willingness to stand up for their fellow men. Their commitment created role models and these had a great impact on the young women's identity formation. The sense of belonging created by both the measures and the campaign is a significant preventive measure and offers protection against turning to radical groups or other negative influences. The Women Empowering Women Against Radicalization (FsF) project empowered young women and girls of the Muslim faith, teaching them how to assert themselves and thus be impervious to radical propaganda from extremist groups. FsF is funded by the Federal Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration and Anti-Racism Commissioner.
The registration gives you access to the online DPT-TV from April till November this year and serves as the ticket for our in-situ congress in Hannover, Germany, on October 4th & 5th.
