Prevention in Schools – State of the Art and new concepts
Must be postponed due to sickness.
The Corona pandemic has created significant challenges for schools. Recent surveys indicate that schools face ongoing challenges in coping with the impacts of the pandemic, that educational inequalities have widened, and that student behavior problems have increased. Against this background, school-based prevention remains of central importance. The lecture reports on current approaches and practical examples for the further development of school prevention on the basis of projects of the Berlin Office for the Prevention of Violence. Based on the monitoring of violence prevention, data on the incidence of violence at Berlin schools as well as further questions on information systems on the social situation at schools will be discussed. On the basis of the cross-sectional topic of violence prevention in the Berlin-Brandenburg framework curriculum and new state programmes for the prevention of violence and the development of democracy in schools in difficult situations, state policy measures are discussed. Evaluation results of model projects – such as sports-related prevention and prevention of cyber-grooming – also provide insights into the development of innovative formats of school-based prevention with children and young people as the target group.

Violence Prevention in Schools
Renate Schwarz-Saage (Foundation German Forum for Crime Prevention (DFK)) and Christiane Honer (Police crime prevention of the states and the federal government)
Violence in schools raises many questions among professionals. When are legal boundaries crossed? How should the institution of school deal with this? When should a report be filed with the police? And how can violence in the school context be prevented in principle? Are there also digital prevention concepts? These and other questions will be clarified in the lecture. The aim is to present practical approaches to the problem of “violence in schools”. The basis for the lecture content is the revised handout “Herausforderung Gewalt” (“Challenge of Violence”) from the police crime prevention of the states and the federal government, which presents recommendations from prevention experts from the police and pedagogy. One central message is: consciously anchor binding prevention structures so that violence does not occur in the first place. The new “Gewaltig daneben” media package is presented as an instrument for active prevention work in schools. This digital prevention format with short clips on the topics of provocation, physical violence, (cyber) bullying and blackmail also offers a methodical film guide. The special feature: It has been designed for both face-to-face and online teaching. The presentation also sheds light on the development process of this modern prevention tool.
The registration gives you access to the online DPT-TV from April till November this year and served as the ticket for our in-situ congress in Hannover, Germany, on October 4th & 5th.
