Online Conference: Preventing Violent Extremism in local multi-agency teams
The impact of violent extremism is most palpable at the local/city-level. In order to address its complex and rapidly shifting environment, a variety of viewpoints and professions are required. For this reason, well-coordinated local multi-agency teams are a crucial asset when preventing and combating violent extremism (P/CVE).
On a related note, within multi-agency settings the perspectives and interests of the individuals concerned are often best understood by the caseworkers engaging directly with the individual (in the context of secondary and tertiary prevention). Caseworkers are therefore in a position where they are required to communicate about the counselling process in a structured manner to other stakeholders.
Based on these insights and building on the knowledge gained in previous projects relevant to these challenges, the ISF-funded project icommit has over the course of the past two years developed and delivered:
- training curricula to improve and strengthen the cooperation of eight local multi-agency teams from across Europe;
- as well as a toolkit to support P/CVE caseworkers in structuring distancing processes, adopting a resource-oriented, and a gender-focused perspective.
The project results will be shared and reflected upon at the virtual icommit closing ONLINE conference on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 from 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm CEST.
