The Stockholm Criminology Symposium: Programme available

More news about the topic

The Symposium which was held for the first time in 2006, is organized by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, which is an agency under the Ministry of Justice. The primary purpose of the Symposium is to create an environment where international criminologists, policy makers, practitioners and others engaged in criminal policy matters can take part of the latest research findings of importance for crime policy. The participants will be able to discuss strategies, methods and measures to reduce crime and improve levels of safety in society.

The Symposium takes place June 10th till 12th, 2024 in Stockholm.

The symposium program traditionally follow two main tracks. One theme is based on the work of the prize winner(s) and the other theme is based on contemporary criminology. The program includes a large number of parallel sessions, as well as the prize winners' lecture. This year’s extensive program features an impressive 250 speakers who over the cause of three full days, in 70 sessions, will present their research and share their experience. Do not miss the chance to listen to the prize winners’ lecture with the 2024 winners of the Stockholm Prize in Criminology, professor Gary LaFree, University of Maryland and professor Tom R. Tyler, Yale University. The Jerry Lee Lecture, named in honor of the initial donor of the prize, will this year be delivered by Professor Alex R. Piquero, University of Miami.
