Empire Fighting Chance: An alternative way of working with young people experiencing disadvantages

Empire Fighting Chance (EFC) promotes an alternative way of working with young people experiencing disadvantages through recognizing their traumas and personal histories. EFC combines non-contact boxing with psychologically informed training, providing holistic support by trained professionals to people 8 to 25 years old. In addition to Bristol, EFC operates 15 direct delivery sites outside the city and has partnerships with 32 boxing clubs, 15 youth organizations, and 13 therapeutic organizations, all of which are implementing their methodologies across the United Kingdom. A 2023 evaluation showed significant self-reported improvement by the youth participating in different activities provided by the program.
